Building Decarbonization Coalition

History

A statewide alliance that works to decarbonize California’s homes and workplaces, largely by substituting electricity for fossil fuels in space heating, water heating, cooking, dishwashing, and clothes drying. Coalition members include utilities, community-choice electricity providers, city governments, manufacturers, builders, real estate firms, and NGOs. The Coalition released a Roadmap for Decarbonizing California Buildings in January of 2019, and by the end of that year, 40% of state residents lived in a local jurisdiction that had adopted a building decarbonization policy.
